Interview with Nika Bendra Horror Artist
Please introduce yourself and tell us where you are from?
My name is Nika Bendra I‘m 31 years old and I was born in Slovenia, but I lived in Austria for 25 years.
Can you tell us how you got started in art?
I always had a talent in drawing. In the year 2010, I was in a financial crisis. I came up with the idea to sell my paintings... So, I bought acrylic colors and canvas with the last of my money and decided to try it... It worked well. It’s lots of fun to paint and create something. One thing led to the other.
What kind of things do you make or have created?
My work consists of Paintings: acrylic, watercolors, oil colors, spray paint… Sculptures, Bags, Boxes, Keychains, and Jewelry.
What inspired you to create art based off horror characters and the genre?
I love Horror and Horror movies since I was a child… I always made my Halloween costumes myself... And I like 3D sculptures... so I just tried to make horror dolls myself... And then I got the idea to make Keychains with sculptured Horror characters.
What has been your most memorable experience working in this field?
It was when I painted the biggest painting I ever painted of my favorite music band on stage with their instruments. I posted a photo of myself with the painting on Instagram and got likes + comments from the band. This was the most amazing feeling ever.
What has been your most challenging project and why?
It was the biggest painting of my favorite band, because I needed to work 16 full days without a break... 12-14 hours a day... And also working on my Leatherface Sculpture from the Horror Genre.
What are your future goals?
My future goals... I want my art to do something... To make the world a better place and to make people happy.

My favorite characters are Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers.

My favorite movies are Nightmare on Elm street, Halloween, The Conjuring and so on xD
